Where the name comes from.
What you say when a teammate drops the ball: don't mind, next play. Donmai treats failure as the default condition; every step is retryable, auditable, recoverable by design.
どんまい
donmai · pronounced dohn-MY · "don't mind"
どんまい is a Japanese baseball phrase, called out when a fielder drops a ball. It carries no judgment; it is an acknowledgment that errors happen and the game goes on.
An agent runtime deserves a name that says the same thing. Tasks will fail. Networks go down. APIs rate-limit. When a step fails, Donmai records what happened, applies your retry policy, and moves forward.

A note from the founder.
Donmai started as the execution layer inside Rensei. We open-sourced the primitives, a persistent daemon, a dispatch loop that owns the retry, and plugin-native MCP tools, because they should be available to every builder. The same runtime powers Rensei in production. MIT licensed.

Meet Don.

Don, the kitsune, is the Donmai mascot. Don has one tail at v0; more follow as the project matures. He lives on this site and in the dashboard; an in-terminal cameo is planned. Otherwise, he stays out of the way.
